Sending signup links is something that you can do from several tables in BigSIS. This article concentrates on sending them from the People table. If you planned to send the signup links from another table, feel free but keep in mind the table you send signup links from doesn't matter! Your signup link templates will work anywhere in the system you can send signup links.
IMPORTANT! It is imperative that you use the signup link marker in your signup link emails. This marker is 100% unique for each recipient so you must always include the signup link marker. This also means that you can NEVER copy a signup link you have already sent to a user. That signup link marker is tied to the original person you sent it to and is unique to them.
This is why we recommend that you use signup link email templates to make sure you always include the correct marker information.

PRO TIP! Don't forget to review your signup link templates if you haven't yet! How to Edit Email Templates
From the People table:
- Select the records you want to send the signup link to.
- PRO TIP! Use the built-in filtering on the people table to narrow your selection of records. When sending signup links you will often be sending to teachers or parents/guardians. Use the By Role filter to select your teachers. Use the Enrollment Query to filter for parents/guardians.
- Click on Contact > Send Signup Link. This will take you to the Send Signup Link screen. NOTE: If this screen shows a message stating “There were no email addresses to send to.” then you have selected users who already are tied to a user or who are missing an email address to send the link to.
- From the Send Signup Link screen you will have several options:
- Send signup link to field - will show you the first and last name(s) and email address of those receiving the sign up link.
- Unable to send to the following people because they are missing an email address - shows those recipients who are missing an email address and therefore cannot receive the signup link email.
- Already tied to a user - shows all recipients who are already signed up.
- Send from Email Account - choose the email account you want to send this email from. (See Managing Email for more information on how to set up email accounts)
- Subject - add a subject for this email. This is a required field!
- Available Email Markers - these are the email markers available for this email type.
- Load from a User Signup Html Template - this drop-down menu will allow you to select from signup link email templates you have already created. Special Note: We highly recommend that you create a few different templates based on who you are sending them to! You will be sending different types of signup email templates. In some cases, you will be sending to parents, sometimes to teachers, sometimes to employees, some time to lead parents (new admissions), etc. With this in mind, you will want to formulate a few email templates based on the variety of signup emails you will be sending. (See Sending Email - Templates for more information on how set up email templates.)
IMPORTANT: A special note about email markers. In previous sections, we discussed how email markers are specific to the table you are sending the email from. For signup link emails you will notice a few common markers like {{Firstname}} and {{Lastname}}. The very unique email marker you will see is the {{SignupLink}} marker. This marker has to be included in a signup link email! Without this marker, the recipient will not have a link to click on. This marker will be replaced with a link that will say Signup and this is what they will need to click on to follow the steps to sign up. If this marker is not included the recipient will simply have no signup link to use. - Generate and Send - use this option to send the signup link email.
- Preview First Email - use this option to preview the first email in this batch.
- Preview Emails - use this option to preview all emails in this batch.
- PRO TIP! You can also send one-off signup links from the Edit Person page.
