These quick steps for entering reports in the teacher portal can be used as a teaching aid, included in your teacher portal snippet (see Portal Settings for more info), or used as an email sent to teachers. These are general instructions that might need to be edited based on how your school uses the report writing options available. Feel free to edit or send this article link directly to your teachers! (Copy and paste: Quick Steps for Writing Reports in the Teacher Portal).
- Start by logging into your teacher portal: Include a link to your portal here.
- Now, click on the Teachers tab.
- Click on Current Courses to see your current course list.
- Click View Course to edit a course (You can also double-click on a highlighted course to edit).
(Right-click and "Open image in new tab" to enlarge) - Now, click on the Write Reports tab or double-click on any course to start writing reports.
- Click the Edit button on the right side to edit a student's report.
(Right-click and "Open image in new tab" to enlarge) - You will see a few options from this edit screen:
- At the very top of the screen, you will see action buttons that will allow you to save, skip students, or check the spelling. NOTE: These action buttons will also appear at the bottom of the page for easy access.
- Assessment Drop-Down Field: This will be used to choose an assessment when you are finished with the report for this student. Depending on how your school is set up you might see actual letter grades or you might see an option like "Complete." The concept is that this assessment tells the system when you are done with this student's report and must be selected at some point to indicate you are finished with their report.
- Narrative Box: You will enter your written narrative in this box. You may use the formatting options to customize the narrative.
- Matrices (Rubrics): If your school uses matrices (aka rubrics) you will see the available matrix below the narrative box.
- To fill out matrices, click on the scale to choose your entry for each matrix line. You will have a scale key at the top of your matrix if need be.
- You will have an option of "None" that you may choose if you do not need to make a matrix entry for any given matrix line.
- You might also see a narrative box included with your matrix. This will depend on how your school has set up the matrices, but you might have a narrative box for each matrix line or just one either at the top or bottom of the matrix. Fill these out based on your needs.
