A common issue that arises with an email account is the need to update your password. This only arises when your email account is using SMTP and does not apply to Gmail Oauth2 but if you update a password outside of BigSIS it will also need to be updated in BigSIS. The following steps will help you edit this information. For full details on what email accounts are or how to set them up please use these two articles: Email Accounts in BigSIS and How to Set up Email Accounts.
- Go to System > Settings > Email Accounts on the left menu.
- Search for and edit the email account to be updated.
- Under Type of Email Account, you will see that SMTP is highlighted and you can enter your password in the Email Account Password field.
PRO TIP! Once you save your password it will not be shown on screen. BigSIS obfuscates your email account password and the password will not shown. - Once you have updated your password, remember to save your new settings by clicking Save. It is recommended to test the email account with the Save and Test option at the top of your screen.
- How to test:
- If you are connecting through SMTP, you will be directed to a screen where you will enter an email address of your choice to send the test email to. Click the Send Test Email button to send the test email.
- If you are connecting through Direct Connect, you will be directed to a test page without having to log in again, click the Send Test Email button to send the test email. The test email will be sent to your Gmail account.
