IMPORTANT! In the coming months, we will be phasing out this version of the Tuition Management module. If you are looking for how to work with Contracts in the next generation of the Tuition Management module (which is where all 2023-2024 Contracts were built and sent from), go to the Tuition Management section of our Help Center.
In order to test Lead Contract MPFs, you must simulate being either a parent of a prospective student (i.e. a Lead) or the student (Lead) themself depending on how you plan to use the form (if you plan to have parents of leads fill out contract forms, you must simulate being a parent of a lead, if you plan to have leads fill it out themselves directly, you must simulate being a lead). This means you need to create a fake lead.
For this testing, we HIGHLY recommend only doing so on your 'Testing' database (i.e., the free sandbox we offer you). Although we often recommend testing MPF's on your live site, testing contracts is the exception. We DO NOT want you creating invoices on your live site and completing contracts will do so. This will require the school to take the necessary steps to remove invoices and remove test contracts. If BigSIS is required to assist we may have to charge an hourly fee to assist so make sure to do this testing on your test site only.
PRO TIP! For many schools, you may be able to skip ahead in these instructions to #4 if you have already set up your lead enrollment configuration.
- Start by logging in to your test site. For more information on how to login to your test site click here. You may also use our login help here.
IMPORTANT: Before you can test a contract form, you must not only create one, but you must assign it to a program in your Lead Enrollment Configuration. If you are unfamiliar with the Lead Enrollment Configuration, review the help documentation by clicking here.
PRO TIP! You may also review all Admissions/Leads help articles here.
- Once you are familiar with the Lead Enrollment Configuration, assign your new contract form in the Contract Settings for one of your programs in a Lead Enrollment Configuration like this:
- Remember to take note of the academic year and the program that you assign the contract form to so that when you create a new lead to test the form, you select this academic year and program for the lead.
- Now we need to create a fake lead to test. Go to Admissions/Leads > Quick Add Lead and fill out the form that is launched. The illustrations below highlight the important fields you need to fill out. Make sure you select the academic year and program that you assigned the contract form to in the lead enrollment configuration. When you get to the fields where you enter parent/guardian information, select Existing Person, and enter YOURSELF. It is imperative that you enter yourself as the guardian to make testing the contract seamless.
- The next step is to create a contract for your fake lead. Follow these steps on how to create contracts manually.
- After you create the contract you may want to edit line items or split the contract.
- Now it is almost time to go and play with the contract itself. But first, let's make sure that the portal is set up to display these forms. Go to System > Settings > Portal Setup and look for the Admissions - Portal Tab and click on it to expand it.
- If the tab is already active, just take note of the name listed in the Display Title in Portal field and then skip to the next step (by default, the name in that field is Admissions, but your school may have changed this to something else. If it is currently inactive, click the Show in Portal box, give a name to the tab in the 'Display Title in Portal' field and then hit the Save button right beneath it:

- There is one more step to make sure that you are able to see your test contract(s) in the portal. Make sure to release your contracts otherwise you will never be able to fill them out in the portal. Use these instructions on How to Release Enrollment or Re-Enrollment Contracts to Parents to get this accomplished.
- Go to your portal and locate the Admissions tab (remember, the name may be changed). Now, go down to the sub-tab titled My Contracts and look for the record featuring your fake lead and click the Fill Out Contract link. If prompted to Claim the form, go ahead and do so.
- Finally, you will be viewing the Lead Contract MPF and you are now able to test it. Use these steps on How to Fill out a Contract in the Portal.
