How to Download SchoolMessenger Files

BigSIS offers an optional automated nightly sync for SchoolMessenger but if you are importing your own files you can use the SchoolMessenger zip download for quick access to what you will need. 

Before doing this download you will also want to check the default academic year that your school is currently using for their SchoolMessenger download. Click here for more information on how to change this default academic year setting.

1. On the left menu, go to People > Other > SchoolMessenger Zip Download.

2. Click Download.
   
3. This will bring up a screen similar to the below example for you to save the files in a location of your choosing on your computer.

   • Make sure to take note of which location you choose. Most computers will provide a clickable link at the bottom of your screen similar to the below example but it is good to make sure you know where you saved your file.
     
4. The downloaded zip file will include four separate files: EmployeesExport.csv, GuardianExport.csv, RelationshipsExport.csv, and the StudentExport.csv. Some of the below settings will depend on the current academic year set in your SchoolMessenger default academic year settings.    1. EmployeesExport.csv - This file will provide all active employees.
   2. GuardianExport.csv - This file will provide all guardians of active and enrolled students for the current academic year set in your SchoolMessenger default academic year settings. 
   3. RelationshipsExport.csv - This file will provide all relationships for parents/guardians of active and enrolled students for the current academic year set in your SchoolMessenger default academic year settings. This will include up to two guardians.
   4. StudentExport.csv - This file will provide all active and enrolled students for the current academic year set in your SchoolMessenger default academic year settings. Click here for more information on how to change this default academic year setting.
