Every school comes with a standard demographics collection widget that can be used on all Multi-Page Forms, including Inquiry and Application forms. The race and ethnicity fields on this widget collect data in line with how NAIS requests it in their DASL report. In the process, we wanted to help users navigate the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx and Middle Eastern ethnicities more intuitively so that more users are able to correctly select those as their ethnicity and also provide their race. The school can also toggle on and off collecting and/or requiring Preferred Name, Nickname, Date of Birth, Gender, Personal Pronouns, and School District

- In your Multi-Page Form (this example is using an Application), go to the Page that you collect your demographic information on and then open the Demographic Questions & Fields Widget.
PRO TIP! For a refresher on adding Pages and Widgets check out How to Build a BigSIS Application, How to Build a BigSIS Contract, or Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating an Enrollment or People Multi-Page Form. - From this screen, you can choose which information fields you want to display on your form, as well as if they will be required.
NOTE: If you do not see the ability to make some fields required, and would like to be able to make them required you must make the change in your Client Settings>General>Enable Additional Gender Options. - Once you've made your selections, click Save and Back.
- If your school previously collected this information in a custom form, you need to make some edits to your forms so that you don't lose that data. See how to do that here: Editing MPFs to Keep Old Demographic Data.
