Teachers have two types of course descriptions in the portal: a default course description used for the course all assessment periods and an override course description used per assessment period.
The default course description is used anytime there is not an override course description added and will be used for any assessment period that does not have an override description.
The override course description is used per assessment period and overrides the default course description if there is one. Remember that the override description will only be used for the selected assessment period so you may have to add in a description for each assessment period.
The following instructions will show you how to edit both types of course descriptions in the portal. If you are an admin looking to view or edit course descriptions you can impersonate the teacher and follow the below steps or click here for steps on editing from the admin side.
- Start by logging into your teacher portal. Click here if you need help logging in.
- Click the Teachers tab > Current Courses > Descriptions For Reports.
PRO TIP! Your school may use different titles for the portal.
(Right-click and 'Open image in new tab' to enlarge) - Your default and override descriptions will be listed or you will see a notification if they have not been added yet.
- Click Edit Default Description to add a Default Course Description. OR
- Click Edit (or Double-Click) for any individual assessment period if you would like to add a Course Description Override.

- When adding a description you will have a few formatting options to select from. Click Save when you are done.
