This article gives an overview of the Extended Care Tab in the BigSIS portal. On this tab, you can see sessions that your child/ward can signup for, see session occurrences that your child/ward is signed up for, and sign up your child/ward for session occurrences. If you need additional assistance, please contact the school and let them know.
This article is an overview and may include tabs that not all schools are using. Schools also have the ability to rename tabs, so the tab titles in the portal you are working in may be different. In order to get started, you'll need access to your portal. If you do not have access, please contact the school and they will get you set up.

Overview of the Participants Subtab
Once you've logged in to your portal, click on the Extended Care tab across the top. The Participants subtab will already be open on the Extended Care tab. This will show you all children/wards related to you who are current students of the school and the Extended Care sessions that they are currently able to signup for.
- NOTE: This does not include all Extended Care sessions that the school is running. The school has the option to not allow signups from the portal.

- You can filter By Student and/or By Session
- If your student is not in a Session but you would like to add them to one (and the school allows parents/guardians to do this), select Join Session and you will be taken to a new screen where available sessions are shown and you can add your student.
- To view the available sign-ups for a session, click View Signups
- IMPORTANT: Just because your student is in a specific Session does not mean they have been signed up for Occurrences, you must sign them up for individual Occurrences within the Session.
Overview of the Signups Calendar Subtab
The Signups Calendar tab shows the Occurrences your student(s) are signed up for in a visual format. This calendar will be blank if your student does not have any sign-ups.

- You can click on your child/ward's name to toggle their calendar off or on.
- Each Occurrence shows the time it takes place, the title of the Session, and the name of the student in the Occurrence.
How to Sign Up for an Occurrence in an Extended Care Session
If the school allows for parents/guardians to sign their student(s) up for Extended Care through the portal, you can follow these instructions for signing up for an Occurrence within a Session.
- Start on the Participants sub-tab in the Extended Care tab of the portal. Click View Signups for the student and Session you want.

On the right is the Session Calendar which is a visual representation of the Occurrences within a Session, and the status of the student for each Occurrence. On the left are different ways the school has designated for you to sign up and the fees and parameters of each. Often there is the ability to signup for one occurrence, all the occurrences, and some variation of occurrences (e.g. "Every Monday").

- If you only need to sign up for one Occurrence, double-click on the Occurrence in the Session Calendar. On the next page, click Sign Up to confirm your signup.
- If you want to sign up for more than one Occurrence via one of the options the school has provided, use the Quick Signups option on the left instead.
- If you only need to sign up for one Occurrence, double-click on the Occurrence in the Session Calendar. On the next page, click Sign Up to confirm your signup.
- Once you have completed your Sign Up, you will see it on this Session Calendar as well as on the Signups Calendar subtab.
How to Opt Out of an Occurrence in an Extended Care Session
If the school allows for parents/guardians to opt-out their student(s) from Extended Care through the portal, you can follow these instructions.
- Start on the Participants sub-tab in the Extended Care tab of the portal. Click View Signups for the student and Session you want.

On the right, is the Session Calendar which is a visual representation of the Occurrences within a Session, and the status of the student for each Occurrence. Double-click on the Occurrence you need to opt-out of.

- Once you have completed your Opt Out, you will see the change on the Session Calendar, as well as on the Signups Calendar subtab.
